Ink Coverage Calculator

Upload a design to measure how much of the print area carries ink, then estimate ink usage and cost per print.

Why ink coverage matters

Ink cost scales with coverage. A 12 × 16 inch print that's mostly outline art might use a quarter of the ink of a solid block design the same size. Measuring coverage lets you price heavy designs fairly instead of averaging everyone into the same number, and it matters most for DTG white ink and for DTF, where every square inch is film and ink.

Frequently asked questions

How is ink coverage calculated?

The tool counts the pixels in your artwork that carry color and divides by the total print area to give a coverage percentage, which feeds the ink usage estimate.

Does high ink coverage cost more?

Yes. More coverage means more ink, and for DTG more white underbase, so heavy designs should be priced higher.
