How the matching works
The matcher compares your color with each thread's reference color and ranks them by distance in RGB space: the smaller the Δ number, the closer the match. It covers common core colors, so treat results as a starting point.
Thread is shiny and sits in raised stitches, so it catches light differently from flat print or a screen. Always check against a physical thread card before a big run, especially for brand colors.
Tips for matching brand colors in embroidery
- Ask the customer for Pantone references. Most thread makers publish Pantone cross-reference charts.
- Stitch a sample on the actual garment color; the background changes how thread color reads.
- Record the chosen thread numbers on the customer's artwork so repeat orders match.
